Fun & Entertainment

rFactor
A superb racing simulator with an enormous number of tracks available (via rTracker.org torrents) and an online news, and driving statics database to compare yourself to other drives.

The Onion
The premier online humor magazine. These guys are good. Very, very good!: ``A shattered nation longs to care about stupid bulls--t again!'' (can you hit the truth with such painfully funny accuracy? Me neither!)

Personal Computer Security
HEAVY duty computer security…

Online Comics: These aren't your usual Sunday Funnies. Take my word for it!
Sinfest: One word: 'nique! ;-)
MacHall: Brilliant.
A Modest Destiny: Most unique.
Maakies: ``Dook, dook, dook''
PopeAlien: No, not that pope!

Industry News

Slashdot
News for Nerds. News that Matters. Collects a variety of daily news about a dozen or so most notable industry news bits, and offers threaded forums for open discussion on each of these topics. Leans towards Open Source and Free Software, and specifically away from a certain monopoly.

Kuro5hin
Technology and Culture from the Trenches. A variety of excellent community-written articles on a variety of issues, and usually discussed intelligently and informatively. Some of the discussions have changed my opinion based on the quality of information and arguments presented.

lists.tgz
A copy of the messages detailing widespread security issues with Diebold's voting equipment and software. These devices are used in 37 U.S. states but by Diebold's own descriptions, provide virtually no defense against voting fraud. Also see the Why War? site for excerpts and other information. Can any election result be trusted if Diebold voting machines are involved? You be the judge!

Darl McBride is a Big Fat Idiot: A Fair and Balanced Look at SCO
A good collection of information about SCO and their broadsided attack against... well, almost everybody!

Amiga

AMIGA.org
A news site that focuses much more than the old AWD (see below) on important news in the Amiga community.

SoftLogik Publishing
Publishers of the superb desktop publishing software PageStream.

NordicGlobal
Holger Kruse's company, publisher of Miami (best internet connectivity software for any platform) and AmiWin (an X11R6 Server for the Amiga). Soon to come: Daytona!!

Amiga Web Directory (AWD) and AWD New Links Page
What used to be the definitive collection of announcements relating to the Amiga computer, also supplying numerous resources relating to the Amiga, private and commercial. Alas, the AWD has ceased operation beginning with the new year 2000.

Java

Java Technology Home Page
Great starting page for everything Java. This includes the link below to the Java products & APIs:

Java Products & APIs
Java Development Kits (JDK), Foundation Classes (+Swing), JDBC, JavaBeans, JavaMail, Security, Accessibility, Media APIs (2D, 3D, Advanced Imaging, Sound, Speech), etc. etc.

Java Tools for Linux
A collection of more than a score of great links leading to software that ranges from language translators, to development environments, compilers, decompilers, Java virtual machines, etc. Cool stuff.

Java Tips
A nifty collection of many dozens of Java tips and techniques. Growing, and worth a visit or three!

DaveCentral Java Software, Freeware, Demos and Betas
I suppose the title says it all. Great site with lots and lots of stuff to grab (and there's non-Java stuff there, too)

The Java Lobby
The Java Lobby is a group of people who share a common interest in Java software development and the advancement of Java standards and software. The main purpose of the Java Lobby is to represent the needs and concerns of the Java developer and user community to the companies and organizations who have influence in the evolution of Java.

Linux Online
The Linux Home page: good introduction to Linux, good resource references, articles of the week, etc.

The Linux Documentation Project
Red Hat's Linux documentation project pages are a great entry point for all sorts of documentation about Linux
