President Trump’s decision to strike three of Iran’s nuclear sites in “Operation Midnight Hammer” has effectively committed the United States to entering the conflict with Iran, which stands to receive significant support from those nations with whom Iran has strategic alliances or at least strong affiliation: Russia, China, Pakistan, and perhaps India as well, not to mention many nations in the region upon whom the US has in recent decades visited significant violence at the behest of Israel.
Iran can now either bow and retreat against America’s fire power, to bide its time and start its nuclear weapons program in earnest, or bring to bear its significant arsenal of conventional weapons, including hypersonic missiles, to degrade and devastate American assets (including Israel) in the region so rapidly and decisively that the enormity of a full-scale conflict will look ruinous from the outset, and likely even worse if we commit to it.
Who will blink first?
Who needs to be eliminated for real peace in the region?
