Do you write?
You may find WriteSight useful because it can give you insight into your work:
Besides the obvious (see below), WriteSight can tell you how often you repeat words or even lengthy phrases, and how closely spaced they are. Copy-paste mistakes could cause your characters to be saying the same thing more than once, for example, or maybe you are prone to say, ‘She bent forward and…’ too many times and would prefer her to be more variable in her expressiveness? Did you not realize that ‘he furrowed his brows’ once too often, especially when it happens more than once within just a few paragraphs?
Well, it looks like WriteSight might be a tool you will find useful, so why not give it a try. It’s free for the download, requires no complicated installation, and might help you fix a few problems in your writing which you didn’t even know you had.
Of course, WriteSight can also give you more quantitative insights:
- Word count (including percentage toward a goal of words)
- Unique words (within a single document and across a collection)
- Percentage of unique words overall
- Count of paragraphs
- Page count (based on words per line, and lines per page)
