No pictures of the dead body of Osama bin Laden, good!
First, offending people (for religious, moral, or simple decency reasons) is rather too low a blow for any civilized nation. We don't want that, we don't need that, and so we will not do that. Yes, he was a terrorist and very likely responsible for massive destruction and the death of thousands, but we really don't need to act like asshats in return.
Second, we live in an age where any photo can be doctored. Even digital authentication signatures from digital cameras can be faked. Pictures, in other words, even when appearing perfectly real, can and will be disputed as being fake, and those who these pictures should convince will never (want to) be convinced by photos, anyway.
And so, the only people who such pictures would satisfy are the kind who get some sort of kick from seeing them. And that would be a truly terrible reason to release the photos.
